Eurovision 60éme Anniversaire - 60th Anniversary - Monaco

Eurovision
60éme Anniversaire
60th Anniversary
Monaco

Monaco has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest, in its fourth edition in 1959 until his twenty-fourth edition in 1979; then its forty-ninth edition, in 2004, at its fifty-first edition, in 2006.The country took the win on one occasion, in 1971.The country has participated in twenty-one years, from 1959 to 1979, missing no edition; then again for three years, from 2004 to 2006.
In 1980, Monaco decided to withdraw for financial reasons and only returned in 2004 after an absence of twenty-five years. But in 2007, the country decided to retire again, following three consecutive elimination in the semifinals.Monaco won the competition only once, in 1971, with the song A bench, a tree, a street, performed by Séverine. This victory remains special in the history of the contest, as the interpreter, the authors and the conductor of the song were all French.Severine went as far as declaring that she had never set foot in her life in Monaco, forgetting that she had turned the promotion video on the Rock.Severine was never paid for his victory. His producer showed dishonest, the wheel of his winnings.Despite a trial, she could never get back what was owed. She remained still a big fan of the competition, saying: "I canceled everything, so never miss the contest.

Year after year, it remains as wonderful. "
The country has completed a recovery in second place (in 1962) and three times in third place (in 1960, 1964 and 1976).Conversely, Monaco finished in last place twice (in 1959 and 1966) and got a null point to a recovery (in 1966).
Monaco is one of eight participating countries to have finished in last place in their infancy, with Austria (in 1957), Portugal (1964), Malta (1971), Turkey (1975), Lithuania (in 1994), the Czech Republic (in 2007) and San Marino (in 2008).Monaco has never organized the competition. The country, which won the 1971 edition, had initially decided to hold only the edition 1972.

The first idea was to opt for an external event and postpone the date of the contest until June 19728.
However, lack of funding and adequate equipment, officials of the Monegasque TV last request with the French public television, who agreed to organize the competition. The discussions, however, never led.
The Monegasque TV wanted the competition to be held in Monaco; French television, France.
The Monegasque officials then finally gave up in the organization and it recovered to UER9. It solicited Spain and Germany, who finished second and third places.
The two countries declined and it was finally the BBC found himself charge. Monaco thus became the only country to ever winner hosting the contest on its soil.

In 1967, the Monegasque song Boum Badaboum, was composed by Serge Gainsbourg. This is his second contribution to the competition after wax doll, her doll, who won the prize in 1965.
The head of the Monegasque orchestra, Aime Barelli, was none other than the father of the interpreter, Minouche Barelli.

In 1969, the representative of Monaco, Jean-Jacques, was the first child to enter the contest. He was then twelve years old.

In 1970, the Monegasque representative, Dominique Dussault, sang a tribute to Marlene Dietrich, wishing to be like him. In the third verse, she made two imitations of the star, in German and English.

Eurovision 60éme Anniversaire - 60th Anniversary - Espagne - Spain - España

Eurovision
60éme Anniversaire
60th Anniversary

Spain participates in the Eurovision Song Contest since its sixth edition in 1961 and won twice: in 1968 and 1969.
Spain is one of the five largest financial contributors to the EBU, with Germany, France, Italy and the UK.
Together they form the group known as the "Big Five".
Since the 1999 edition of the competition, they are guaranteed an automatic place in the finals, regardless of their outcome, the previous year.

The country therefore participates since 1961,
missing no edition of the competition.

Spain won the competition twice.

The first time in 1968 with the song La, la, la, interpreted by Massiel3. Originally, the Spanish song was to be sung by Joan Manuel Serrat. But the latter insisted on singing in Catalan.
But this language and its use were repressed in Franco's Spain.

The leaders of the Spanish public television replaced by Massiel authority of Serrat. The latter was not prevented a few days before the
start of rehearsals, when she was on tour in Mexico.
So she sang in Spanish, after La, la, la had received a new arrangement by Bert Kaempfert.

The second time in 1969 with the song Vivo cantando, played by Salome.
Salome took a particular costume, made of thousands of blue porcelain beads. The set did not weigh less than 14 kilos. For the first time in the history of the contest, the vote ended in a tie, Spain, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom each getting 18 votes. This possibility was
not envisaged by the Regulation, these four countries were declared winners. So there were four winning songs: Vivo cantando, played by Salome for Spain; One day, a child, played by Frida Boccara for France; Troubadour, played by Lenny Kuhr for the Netherlands and Boom Bang-a-Bang, played by Lulu for the UK. There were no second or third place.

Spain was the first participating country to win the competition two years consécutives6. It now remains as long as the winning country waiting for a new
victory Forty-six years that elapsed since the last.

The country finished in second place on four occasions (in 1971, 1973, 1979 and 1995) and in third place, a recovery (in 1984). Conversely, the country finished in last place four times (in 1962, 1965, 1983 and 1999) and won three times, a null point (in 1962, 1965 and 1983).

Spain has organized the competition only once: in 1969.
The event was held Saturday, March 29, 1969, at the
Teatro Real in Madrid. The presenter of the evening was Laurita Valenzuela and musical director, Augusto Algueró.

The Spanish public television possessed at the time no color camera.
She had rented from German public television. Finally, the Spanish viewers saw the contest in black and white, the Spanish television network who was not yet converted to color.
The artistic direction was entrusted to the surrealist master Salvador Dalí. He realized the poster, advertising material, sets and video intermission.

Following the tie of the 1969 edition, the four winning countries presented their bid to host the competition. He was then carried out a lot and it was the Netherlands who were left in charge of the 1970 edition.

In 1964, the Spanish representatives, Tim, Nelly & Tony, also known as Los TNT, were the first group participant of the contest history.
However, the contest rules only allowed participation as solo artists and duets.
That is why
they were introduced by the presenter, Lotte Wæver as "Nelly and his two brothers."

In 1970, the Spanish representative Julio Iglesias was in its infancy. His professional football career was abruptly interrupted by a car accident in which he broke his leg.
It is on his hospital bed that he had learned to play guitar and decided to get into music.

In 1973, the Spanish song Eres Tú was very unpopular after his selection. She was accused of
being a plagiarism of the song Besed Brez, played by Berta Ambroz and who represented Yugoslavia in 1966. The charge could not be proved, the song was presented as such in the contest and finished in second instead. She met later a huge commercial success.
In 2005, during the special show Congratulations, she was elected eleventh best song ever to have been submitted to the contest.

In 1979, The authors of the Spanish song were inspired by the International Year of the Child,
launched in 1979 by the United Nations. Betty Missiego singer decided to finalize the concept, if accompanied on stage by a choir of four.

At the end of the service, children unfurled banners on which were inscribed the word "peace" in English, Spanish, French and Hebrew.
During the voting procedure and after initial hesitation, Israel took the lead of the vote, but in the half, was caught and overtaken by Spain.

The last quarter of the countdown created a long suspense. After awarding points to the penultimate jury, Spain was at 116 points and Israel, to 115.
The denouement came when the last jury, the Spanish jury attributed "ten-point" to Israel, under the cries and the audience's applause.
This was the first time in the history of the contest that a country led its own defeat and it was also the first time a country in second position at the end of the vote, won victory with the last award points. This gave rise to a persistent rumor: the Spanish jury should have awarded "Ten Points" on Israel so that Spain should not organize the competition the following year.

In 1985, the Spanish song was written by Juan Carlos Calderón, the author of Eres tu, which finished second in 1973. She was given favorite by bettors, but only finished in fourteenth place in the vast disappointment of the Spanish delegation. The interpreter, Paloma San Basilio, carried that evening dress, whose value was estimated at 1,400 dollars.

In 1990, at the first performance, that of the Spanish group Azucar Moreno, production difficulties encountered with the soundtrack.
It took several seconds to start and then started too fast as to
allow Spanish conductor to follow the tempo. The Spanish representatives, the Salazar sisters still made their entrance on stage.
But the musical return not manage them, they left the podium after a few moments, visibly furious. A long silence fell on the room, which was broken by the audience's applause. At the second attempt, the soundtrack went properly and the Spanish benefit met no other problem.
This incident ultimately had little impact, Spain finishing fifth.

In 1992, the Spanish representative, Serafín Zubiri

was the first artist visually impaired to participate in the contest.

In 1993, the Spanish song, Hombres, was the very first song of the history of the contest to make explicit mention of the word "sex" in his words.

In 2002, the Spanish representative, Rosa, had been chosen by the viewers of his country, after a reality show called Operación Triunfo.
The viewing figures have exceeded all records and Rosa had become a national heroine. For his
performance in the contest, she was accompanied on stage by his five unfortunate competitors.

In 2010, the benefit of the Spanish representative Daniel Diges was disrupted by a rare incident. In the middle of his song, someone took the stage and slipped from his dancers. It was Jimmy Jump, a streaker who was known by many similar actions.
Daniel Diges and his dancers continued imperturbably their number, while the safety apprehensive Jimmy Jump.
The scanner allowed the members of the Spanish delegation to present their
piece a second time, after the passage of all other participating countries. Nadia Hasnaoui reappeared on stage, after the eighth song, announcing the decision to viewers. This was the second time in the history of the competition that a final found himself disturbed by the arrival of an intruder.

In 1964, an activist was mounted on the stage, carrying a banner denouncing the dictatorships of Franco and Salazar generals. This was also the second time in the history of the contest that a song had to be replayed at the end of a final.
In 1958, the
retransmission of the Italian song had experienced technical difficulties and it could not be understood properly by all jurors. The Italian representative, who was none other than Domenico Modugno, then had to interpret a second time his famous Nel blu di blu dipinto.
