Le concours Eurovision de la chanson 1968 fut la treizième édition du concours. Il se déroula le samedi 6 avril 1968, à Londres, au Royaume-Uni. Il fut remporté par l'Espagne, avec la chanson La, la, la, interprétée par Massiel. Le Royaume-Uni, pays hôte, termina deuxième et la France, troisième.

Le Royaume-Uni, qui avait remporté l'édition 1967, se chargea de l'organisation de l'édition 1968.

Dix-sept pays participèrent au treizième concours.
Il n'y eut ni abstention, ni retour. Le premier jour des répétitions, des personnes se présentèrent à l'Albert Hall, prétendant être la délégation albanaise. La rumeur circula alors des débuts de l’Albanie. Il s’avéra ensuite qu’il s’agissait d’une plaisanterie, montée par des comédiens.

Dix-sept chansons concoururent pour la victoire.
Les bookmakers étaient certains de la victoire du représentant britannique, Cliff Richard, qui avait déjà remporté de nombreux succès auparavant, en musique et au cinéma. Le titre de sa chanson était à l’origine « I think I love you », mais fut changé en « Congratulations » à la dernière minute. Après le concours, ce fut elle qui remporta le plus grand succès commercial. En 2005, lors de l'émission spéciale Congratulations, elle fut élue huitième meilleure chanson jamais présentée au concours.
À l'origine, la chanson espagnole devait être interprétée par Joan Manuel Serrat. Mais celui-ci insista pour la chanter en catalan. Or cette langue et son usage étaient réprimés dans l’Espagne franquiste. Les dirigeants de la télévision publique espagnole remplacèrent d’autorité Serrat par Massiel. Cette dernière ne fut prévenue que quelques jours avant le début des répétitions, alors qu’elle était en tournée au Mexique. Elle chanta donc en espagnol, après que La, la, la eut reçu un nouvel arrangement par Bert Kaempfert.
Les représentants yougoslaves, Luciano Kapurso et Hamo Hajdarhodžić, faisaient partie du groupe Dubrovački Trubaduri, les troubadours de Dubrovnik. Trois autres membres du groupe les accompagnèrent sur scène comme choristes. Ils interprétèrent tous leur chanson, costumés en troubadours médiévaux.

L'Espagne remporta le concours pour la première fois. Seuls dix pays sur dix-sept lui attribuèrent des votes. Le Royaume-Uni, lui, reçut des votes de la part de douze pays.
La médaille du grand prix fut remise par Sandie Shaw, la gagnante de l'année précédente. Massiel commença sa reprise par ces mots : « Thank you all the Europe ! Merci beaucoup ! » Elle interpréta ensuite La, la, la en espagnol et en anglais. Sa reprise reçut un accueil réservé du public de l’Albert Hall et certains spectateurs quittèrent la salle avant la fin de la retransmission.
Le lendemain, la presse britannique se répandit en récriminations sur les résultats et la défaite du Royaume-Uni. Massiel, quant à elle, retourna en Espagne où elle fut accueillie en héroïne nationale.
Pour la première fois depuis 1961, aucun pays ne termina le vote avec "nul point".

The Eurovision Song Contest 1968 was the thirteenth edition of the competition . It took place Saturday, April 6, 1968 , in London, UK. It was won by Spain, with the song La, la, la, interpreted by Massiel . The United Kingdom , the host country , France finished second and third.

The United Kingdom , who won the 1967 edition , undertook the organization of the 1968 edition .

Seventeen countries participated in the thirteenth competition .
There were no abstentions or return. The first day of rehearsals , people appeared at the Albert Hall , claiming to be the Albanian delegation . The rumor then circulating the beginning of Albania. It later turned out that it was a joke, rising by actors.

The bookies were certain of the victory of the British representative , Cliff Richard , who had many successes before, music and cinema . The title of the song was originally " I think I love you" , but was changed to " Congratulations " at the last minute . After the contest , it was she who won the most commercially successful . In 2005, during the special show Congratulations , she was elected the eighth best song ever made in the contest.
Originally, the Spanish song should be played by Joan Manuel Serrat . But he insisted to sing in Catalan. But this language and its use were repressed in Franco's Spain . The leaders of the Spanish public television replaced by Massiel authority Serrat . The latter was warned a few days before the start of rehearsals , when she was on tour in Mexico. So she sang in Spanish, after La, la, la had received a new arrangement by Bert Kaempfert . 
Yugoslav officials and Luciano Kapurso Hamo Hajdarhodžić , were part of the group Dubrovacki Trubaduri , the troubadours of Dubrovnik. Three other members of the group accompanied the singers on stage . They interpreted all their song , dressed in medieval troubadours.

Spain won the competition for the first time . Only ten countries out of seventeen votes attributed to him . The United Kingdom , he received votes from twelve countries.
The grand prize medal was awarded by Sandie Shaw, the winner of the previous year. Massiel began its takeover by the words: " Thank you all the Europe! Thank you so much! " Then she sang La, la, la in Spanish and English. His recovery received a lukewarm reception from the public to the Albert Hall and some spectators left the hall before the end of the broadcast .
The next day, the British press spread in recriminations results and defeat the United Kingdom . Massiel , meanwhile, returned to Spain, where she was greeted by a national heroine .
For the first time since 1961 , no country ended with the vote " null point ."
