Le concours Eurovision de la chanson 1992 fut la trente-septième édition du concours. Il se déroula le samedi 9 mai 1992, à Malmö, en Suède. Il fut remporté par l'Irlande, avec la chanson Why Me?, interprétée par Linda Martin. Le Royaume-Uni termina deuxième et Malte, troisième.

La Suède, qui avait remporté l'édition 1991, se chargea de l’organisation de l’édition 1992.

Pour la deuxième fois, après 1990, le concours fut doté d’une mascotte. Il s’agissait cette fois d’un oiseau anthropomorphe au plumage bleu, nommé Eurobird. Il fut présenté durant l’ouverture et apparut ensuite dans toutes les cartes postales.

Vingt-trois pays participèrent au trente-septième concours, un nouveau record.
Les Pays-Bas firent leur retour. Pour permettre à Malte de continuer à concourir, le nombre maximum de pays participants fut élargi à vingt-trois par l’UER.
Ce fut la dernière participation de la Yougoslavie au concours, avant un retrait définitif causé par les sécessions de ses républiques constituantes et les guerres conséquentes.

Les présentateurs de la soirée furent Lydia Cappolicchio et Harald Treutiger. Ils s’exprimèrent principalement en suédois, ne recourant à l’anglais et au français que durant les salutations d’ouverture et la procédure de vote.

Vingt-trois chansons concoururent pour la victoire.

Le représentant espagnol, Serafín Zubiri, fut le tout premier artiste non voyant à participer au concours.
La chanson israélienne, Ze rak sport, avait été inspirée à son auteur, Ehud Manor, par les Jeux olympiques de Barcelone qui devaient se tenir du 25 juillet au 9 août de la même année.

Ce fut la toute première fois que la chanson représentant la France fut interprétée dans une autre langue que le français, en l’occurrence le créole. Il s’agissait en fait de la langue maternelle du chanteur Kali, qui était originaire de La Martinique.
À l’origine, la chanson devant représenter la Suisse était Soleil, Soleil, interprétée par Géraldine Olivier. Mais après la finale nationale suisse, il apparut que Soleil, Soleil en avait enfreint le règlement. En effet, la chanson avait été préalablement soumise au télédiffuseur suisse francophone, qui l’avait refusée. Son auteur l’avait alors traduite et présentée au télédiffuseur suisse germanophone qui la retint. Ce procédé étant interdit, Soleil, Soleil fut disqualifiée. Et c’est finalement la chanson ayant terminé en deuxième position, Mister Music Man, interprétée par Daisy Auvray, qui concourut à Malmö.

La chanson autrichienne, Zusammen geh’n, avait été écrite par Dieter Bohlen, membre de Modern Talking. Bohlen et sa fiancée rencontrèrent des difficultés à entrer sur le territoire suédois, à cause du chien de cette dernière. Par conséquent, Bohlen demeura injoignable et arriva en retard aux répétitions, ce qui suscita la colère de l’interprète autrichien, Tony Wegas. Au final, Zusammen geh’n termina à la dixième place. Dix ans plus tard, Bohlen la réutilisa comme générique de la version allemande de La Nouvelle Star. La chanson rencontra alors un succès commercial bien plus grand que lors de sa sortie originale.
La chanson irlandaise, Why Me?, avait été écrite et composée par Johnny Logan, qui avait déjà remporté le concours en 1980 et 1987. De son côté, l’interprète, Linda Martin, avait terminé deuxième, en 1984, avec Terminal 3, une chanson dont l’auteur n’était autre que Johnny Logan.

The Eurovision Song Contest 1992 was the thirty-seventh edition of the competition . It took place Saturday, May 9, 1992 in Malmo , Sweden. It was won by Ireland with the song Why Me ? , Played by Linda Martin . The United Kingdom and Malta finished second third.

Sweden , who won the 1991 edition , undertook the organization of the 1992 edition .

For the second time , after 1990, the competition was with a mascot. It was this time of an anthropomorphic bird blue plumage named Eurobird . It was presented during the opening and then appeared in all the postcards .

Twenty-threetheir return. To enable Malta to continue to compete , the maximum number of participating countries was expanded to twenty-three by the EBU.
This was the last participation of Yugoslavia in the contest, before a final withdrawal caused by the secession of its constituent republics and the resulting wars.

The presenters of the evening were Lydia Cappolicchio and Harald Treutiger . They expressed mainly in Swedish , not using English and French as during the opening greetings and voting procedure.

Twenty- three songs competed for the win.
The Spanish representative , Serafin Zubiri was not the first artist to seeing the contest.
Israeli song , Ze rak sport, was inspired its author , Ehud Manor, by the Barcelona Olympics to be held from July 25 to August 9 of the same year .
It was the first time that the song representing France was interpreted in a language other than French , namely Creole. It was in fact the mother tongue of the singer Kali , who came from the Martinique .

Originally, the song was to represent Switzerland Sun , Sun , played by Geraldine Olivier . But after the Swiss national final , it appeared that Sun , Sun had broken the rules . Indeed, the song had already been submitted to the Swiss French broadcaster , who had refused. Its author was then translated and presented to the German Swiss broadcaster who retained . This process is prohibited , Sun, Sun was disqualified. And finally the song has finished second , Mister Music Man , played by Daisy Auvray , who competed in Malmö.

Austrian song Zusammen geh'n , was written by Dieter Bohlen Modern Talking member . Bohlen and his fiancee met difficulties to enter the Swedish territory , because of the dog of the latter. Therefore, Bohlen remained unreachable and arrived late for rehearsals , which angered the Austrian interpreter Tony Wegas . In the end, Zusammen geh'n finished in tenth place . Ten years later , Bohlen as the reuse of generic German version of New Star. The song then met a much larger than during its original release commercial success.
Irish song, Why Me ? , Was written and composed by Johnny Logan , who had already won the competition in 1980 and 1987. For its part, the interpreter , Linda Martin , finished second in 1984 , with Terminal 3 , a song whose author was none other than Johnny Logan.
