Le Concours Eurovision de la chanson 2016 sera la 61e édition du concours et aura lieu en Suède, à la suite de la victoire de Måns Zelmerlöw au Concours 2015. 

Les dates préliminaires sont fixées au 10 et au 12 mai 2016 pour les deux demi-finales et au 14 mai 2016 pour la finale. 

Ce sera la sixième fois que la Suède organise le Concours.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2016 will be the 61st edition of the competition will take place in Sweden, following the victory of Måns Zelmerlöw the 2015 contest.

Preliminary dates are set at 10 and 12 May 2016 for two semi-finals and May 14, 2016 for the final.
This will be the sixth time that Sweden is organizing the contest.

Le 8 juillet, La SVT a annoncé que le Concours Eurovision 2016 aurait lieu à l'"ERIKSON ARENA" à Stockholm les 10,12 et 14 mai 2016.

On July 8, SVT announced that the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest would be held in the "Erikson ARENA" in Stockholm on 10,12 and 14 May 2016.

Le 25 mai, Christer Björkman a déclaré au journal Expressen que les potentiels présentateurs pour l'édition 2016 étaient Sanna Nielsen, qui a représenté la Suède au Concours Eurovision de la chanson 2014, Gina Dirawi et Petra Mede qui a présenté l'édition 2013 à Malmö.

Dans la nuit ou Måns Zelmerlöw a gagné, il a annoncé son intérêt pour la présentetion du prochain Concours Eurovision en Suède.

On 25 May, Christer Björkman told the Expressen newspaper that the potential presenters for editing in 2016 were Sanna Nielsen, who represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, Gina and Petra Mede Dirawi who presented at the 2013 edition Malmö.

Sveriges Television a annoncé le 24 mai que son premier choix pour accueillir le concours 2016 était la Tele2 Arena à Stockholm4. D'autres villes ont cependant la capacité d'accueillir le concours. La décision finale devrait être annoncée au milieu de l'été, car la Suède ayant été favorite à Vienne, la SVT avait demandé aux communes de préparer leur candidature au cas où la Suède gagnerait. La télévision suédoise laisse 3 semaines aux villes qui voudraient déposer leurs candidatures avant d'évaluer et de prendre une décision pour accueillir l'Eurovision 2016.

Le 2 juin 2015, la Friends Arena et la Tele2 Arena ont retiré leurs candidatures pour accueillir le Concours. La Friends Arena ne se dit pas intéressée. Quant à la Tele2 Arena, le football est prioritaire sur la période désirée par la SVT. À Stockholm, il ne reste plus que la Ericsson Globe, qui a accueilli le Concours Eurovision de la chanson 2000. Dans le même temps, la Saab Arena, à Linköping montre des signes d'intérêt pour un accueil de cette édition.

Par ailleurs, la SVT a d'ores et déjà affirmé que la Malmö Arena, qui reçu le Concours Eurovision de la Chanson 2013, était hors course pour accueillir le concours 2016, du fait que la mise aux normes demandée par l'UER coûtait trop cher.

Le "Görasson Arena" dans la ville de Sandviken vient de déposer sa candidature.
C'est donc la 4ème ville dans laquelle l'Eurovision pourrait avoir lieu en 2016.

La ville de Örnsköldsvik et son  "Fjällräven Center" vient de se porter candidate pour recevoir le prochain Concours Eurovision.
