Le concours Eurovision de la chanson 1981 fut la vingt-sixième édition du concours. 
Il se déroula le samedi 4 avril 1981, à Dublin, en Irlande. Il fut remporté par le Royaume-Uni, avec la chanson Making Your Mind Up, interprétée par Bucks Fizz. L’Allemagne termina deuxième et la France, troisième.

Vingt pays participèrent au vingt-sixième concours, égalant ainsi le record de 1978.
L'Italie et le Maroc se retirèrent, la première par manque d'intérêt pour le concours, le second suite à son mauvais classement l'année précédente. Après cinq ans d'absence, la Yougoslavie fit son retour, tout comme Israël. Enfin, Chypre fit ses débuts

La présentatrice de la soirée fut Doireann Ní Bhríain. Elle s’adressa aux téléspectateurs en gaélique, en anglais et en français.

L'orchestre était dirigé par Noel Kelehan.

Vingt chansons concoururent pour la victoire.

Pour marquer le vingtième anniversaire de sa victoire au concours, en 1961, le Luxembourg se fit représenter par Jean-Claude Pascal. Mais cette fois, il termina onzième.

Le représentant français était Jean Gabilou, un artiste d'origine polynésienne. Son épouse, restée à Tahiti, décéda durant la semaine des répétitions. Malgré tout, il décida de concourir et termina à la troisième place.

Les représentants britanniques étaient le groupe Bucks Fizz, spécialement formé pour l'occasion et composé de deux filles et deux garçons. Leur prestation fut particulièrement remarquée et demeure un des moments iconiques du concours. Arrivés à la strophe « But if you wanna see some more », les garçons dégrafèrent le jupon des filles, les laissant en mini-jupes. 
Le crédit de cette trouvaille revenait au manager du groupe Nichola Martin.

The Eurovision Song Contest 1981 was the twenty-sixth edition of the competition. 
It took place Saturday, April 4, 1981, in Dublin, Ireland. It was won by the UK with the song Making Your Mind Up by Bucks Fizz interpreted. Germany finished second and France third.

Twenty countries participated in the twenty-sixth competition, equaling the 1978 record.
Italy and Morocco withdrew, the first for lack of interest for the contest, the second following his low ranking last year. After five years of absence, Yugoslavia broke back, like Israel. Finally, Cyprus made its debut

The presenter of the evening was Doireann Ní Bhriain. She spoke to viewers in Gaelic, English and French.

The orchestra was led by Noel Kelehan.

Twenty songs competed for the win.

To mark the twentieth anniversary of its victory in the competition in 1961, Luxembourg was represented by Jean-Claude Pascal. But this time, he finished eleventh.

The French representative was John Gabilou, a Polynesian artist. His wife remained in Tahiti, died during the week of rehearsals. Nevertheless, he decided to compete and finished in third place.

British officials were the group Bucks Fizz, specially trained for the occasion and composed of two girls and two boys. Their performance was particularly noticed and remains one of the iconic moments of the contest. Once in the stanza "Purpose if you wanna see some more" boys dégrafèrent petticoat girls, leaving them in miniskirts.
