Le concours Eurovision de la chanson 1982 fut la vingt-septième édition du concours. Il se déroula le samedi 24 avril 1982, à Harrogate, au Royaume-Uni. Il fut remporté par l’Allemagne, avec la chanson Ein bißchen Frieden, interprétée par Nicole. Israël termina deuxième et la Suisse, troisième.

Le Royaume-Uni, qui avait remporté l'édition 1981, se chargea de l’organisation de l’édition 1982.
La décision de la BBC de choisir Harrogate comme ville hôte causa une certaine surprise. Car jamais le concours n’avait été organisé dans une si petite ville. 
La BBC voulait en fait profiter des facilités offertes par son nouveau centre de conférence, inauguré cette année-là.

Dix-huit pays participèrent au vingt-septième concours.
La France et la Grèce se retirèrent.
Le nouveau directeur des variétés de TF1, Pierre Bouteiller, avait estimé que le concours n’était plus qu’un « monument à la bêtise », dont l’intérêt avait été dissipé par « l’absence de talent et la médiocrité des chansons ». Il décida donc du retrait français. 
Comme il prit sa décision en octobre, juste avant la date officielle d’enregistrement des candidatures, les autres chaînes publiques françaises ne purent s’organiser et trouver une alternative. Il n’y eut au final aucune retransmission télévisée du concours en France. Après 1974, ce fut la seconde et la dernière fois que le pays manqua une édition de l’Eurovision.
La Grèce, de son côté, avait déjà sélectionné pour la représenter la chanson Sarantapente kopelies, interprétée par Themis Adamantidis. 
Mais la ministre de la culture grecque, Melina Mercouri, trouva la chanson de fort mauvaise qualité. De peur qu’elle ne donne une mauvaise image de son pays à l’étranger, Mercouri décida seule du retrait grec.

Dix-huit chansons concoururent pour la victoire.
Lassée de ses mauvais résultats, la télévision publique norvégienne engagea un professeur d'anglais, René Herail, et lui demanda d'analyser les raisons de ces échecs à répétition. Il parvint à la conclusion que les intonations particulières de la langue norvégienne rebutaient les auditeurs étrangers. 
Sur base de ce rapport, Jahn Teigen et Herodes Falsk écrivirent une chanson conceptuelle, au titre français et ne comportant que des sons doux. 
Jahn Teigen l'interpréta en duo avec son épouse de l'époque, Anita Skorgan. 
Ils remportèrent la finale nationale norvégienne et terminèrent à la douzième place du concours, le meilleur résultat obtenu par la Norvège depuis 1973.

Pour la représenter, la télévision publique belge avait choisi la chanteuse d'origine indonésienne Stella. Celle-ci, née aux Pays-Bas et néerlandophone, ne comprenait pas le français. Elle interpréta donc sa chanson de façon phonétique, terminant à la quatrième place. Stella fut la seule à recevoir des points de tous les autres pays participants.
La chanson allemande avait été composée par Ralph Siegel et écrite par Bernd Meinunger. Ils concoururent pour la quatrième année consécutive, un record. Ils avaient déjà terminé quatrièmes en 1979 avec Dschinghis Khan, et deuxièmes en 1980 avec Theater et en 1981 avec Johnny Blue. 
Au total, Ralph Siegel a déjà participé à vingt reprises au concours et Bernd Meinunger, à dix-huit reprises, dans la majorité des cas pour l'Allemagne.

The Eurovision Song Contest 1982 was the twenty-seventh edition of the competition . It took place Saturday, April 24, 1982 , Harrogate , UK . It was won by Germany, with the song Ein bißchen Frieden , played by Nicole . Israel finished second and Switzerland third.


The United Kingdom , who won the 1981 edition , undertook the organization of the 1982 edition .
The decision of the BBC to choose Harrogate as the host city caused some surprise. Ever since the competition had been organized in such a small town .
The BBC wanted to actually enjoy the facilities offered by its new conference center, opened this year.

Eighteen countries participated in the twenty-seventh contest.
France and Greece withdrew . 
The new director varieties TF1, Pierre Bouteiller , had estimated that the competition was not a " monument to stupidity ," whose interest had been dispelled by the "lack of talent and poor songs " . He decided the French withdrawal.

As he took his decision in October , just before the official date of registration of candidates , other French public broadcasters were unable to organize and find an alternative. There was no end to the televised contest in France . 
After 1974 , it was the second and last time that the country missed an edition of Eurovision.
Greece , meanwhile , had already selected to represent the Sarantapente kopelies song , performed by Themis Adamantidis .
But the Greek Minister of Culture Melina Mercouri , found the song very bad quality . Lest it gives a bad image of the country abroad, Mercouri decided only the Greek withdrawal.

Eighteen songs competed for the win.

Tired of his poor performance , the Norwegian public television hired an English teacher , René Herail and asked to analyze the reasons for these repeated failures . He came to the conclusion that the specific intonations of the Norwegian language repelled foreign listeners.
Based on this report, Jahn Teigen and Herodes Falsk wrote a conceptual song, the French title and with only soft sounds .
Jahn Teigen 's interpretation as a duo with his then wife , Anita Skorgan .
They won the Norwegian national final and finished in twelfth place in the competition, the best result obtained by Norway since 1973.

To represent the Belgian public television chose the singer Stella Indonesian origin . It was born in the Netherlands and Dutch do not understand French . She then sang the song phonetically , finishing in fourth place. Stella was the only one to receive points from all other participating countries.

The German song was composed by Ralph Siegel and written by Bernd Meinunger . They competed for the fourth consecutive year , a record. They had already finished fourth in 1979 with Dschinghis Khan, and second in 1980 and 1981 Theater with Johnny Blue .
In total, Ralph Siegel has already participated in the contest and twenty times Bernd Meinunger , eighteen times, in most cases in Germany.
